OmniMAX - Delivering the WiMAX Promise!

OmniMAX logo Outdoor unit of OmniMAX

The explosive growth of the Internet over the last decade has led to an increasing demand for high-speed ubiquitous Internet access. Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) is increasingly gaining popularity as an alternative "last mile" technology in this domain. Following the successful deployments of the IEEE 802.11 systems in Local Area Networks (LANs) and fixed WiMAX (IEEE 802.16-2004) networks, the Mobile WiMAX technology (IEEE 802.16e-2005) enables pervasive and ubiquitous high-speed connectivity to meet the ever-increasing demand for broadband Internet on-the-go.

INTRACOM TELECOM sustains its position amongst the leading technology vendors and has strategically decided to invest in the WiMAX technology and launch a highly competitive product (OmniMAX) that will address various market segments. Fixed line, mobile and greenfield operators will benefit from INTRACOM TELECOM's solution offering.

Part of outdoor unit

OmniMAX provides broadband wireless services to different types of end-users (fixed, nomadic, portable and mobile) that may otherwise have difficulty to access these services with current technology. Thus, the system can operate in varying environments (urban, suburban, rural) and address in an effective manner the user requirements for reliable and low-cost broadband services.

indoor units, optical and electrical respectively

OmiMAX operates in the 2.5-2.7 GHz and 3.4-3.8 GHz frequency bands and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.16e-2005 and WiMAX Forum Wave-II Certification requirements. OmniMAX is composed by an Indoor unit that has an integral modem (1U form factor) and an Outdoor unit with radio and antenna. Each Base Station box can accommodate up to 3-sectors and supports advanced antenna system (AAS) techniques; Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC), 2x2 MIMO-A (Space Time Coding) for link robustness and MIMO-B (BLAST) for increased capacity. Furthermore, the system uses re-configurable processors and is capable of being software upgradeable to future releases of the WiMAX standard.

The very low cost of this product in combination with the flexibility and high performance features make it an attractive alternative for operators that want to reduce their CapEx and deploy their networks with minimal investment risks.
